Many thanks - it (52mm S2 LensMate adapter) arrived safely in just six days and the LensMate adapter tube has made a huge difference to the
handling of my S2 IS. Without it, I had difficulty finding where to put my left hand without interfering with the focus or zoom movements of the lens, but with it fitted, if makes for a very positive grip.
From a UK buyer's point of view, there is another reason to prefer USPS. I have bought quite a lot of items from the USA and have almost never been charged Customs Duty or VAT on borderline values when USPS has been the carrier, but ALWAYS when UPS or other private courier has been involved.

The black G5 lensmates (I got one of each size) are well made
and fit beautifully. I already have a filter and cap for the
52mm (which will live on the camera permanently to protect the
lens). The 58mm will live in my larger kit and will take teleconverters
and effects filters. To anyone who can't decide which size to
get, I still say get both. The 52mm doesn't block the viewfinder
much more than the original ring, and it is pretty quick to
remove if you want more viewfinder (without a ring the viewfinder
is a lot less obstructed anyway). The 58mm will obstruct the
optical viewfinder but if you are using teleconverters and filters
you will want to preview with the LCD anyway. I suspect there
are more native 58mm accessories too.
As for the feel of the camera, I love having a barrel to aid
in steadying the shot, and the whole thing looks much more professional
which can be a real bonus when you want some credibility from
your subjects! Add to this the protection it offers the zoom
lens and it really is a no-brainer: the G5 is naked without
one. Thanks again, great product, great service, I can't recommend

"Just thought I'd share my input regarding the 'Lensmate
lens shroud' which is a bolt on for the G3/5 proshot camera
range. Mine turned up today after only 4 days in the post bag
[ not bad as it comes from seattle usa and I'm in perth Australia]
What can I say, its awesome nicely built and the camera fells
more solid in my rather large hands, also you can surport the
camera via the Lens barrel which in my opnion is a good grip
for camera control.
Any way thought I'd Share my thoughts on this ripper of a bolt
on goodie, I was a fence sitter but took the plunge and ordered

just got my 52mm adapter for my G3. The fit is better than the
original plastic Canon shroud. I have over 20 years dealing
with motion picture camera systems so I have a clue about quality
accessories for cameras. The G series cameras are among of the
favorites of the Cinematographers Guild members for obvious
reasons, compact size, Leica like controls, and excellent image
output. You are professionalizing this camera. I couldn't be

wanted to let you to know that I fully credit the Lensmate with
saving my camera after it fell five feet out of my backpack
onto a cement sidewalk. Though I feared my camera was history,
I was shocked to find that the Lensmate was slightly bent and
the UV filter was cracked, but my camera was fully functional
and the factory lens was unharmed!! In fact, it seemed liked
the Lensmate skewed the balance of the camera during the drop
-- which resulted in the Lensmate taking the brunt of the impact.
In hindsight, I know that if a Lensmate had not been on my camera,
my G1 lens would have surely been broken. I'm sure my camera
would have sustained further cosmetic damage as well. As it
was, I couldn't find a scratch on it -- and the only real casualty
was the UV filter. Even my bent Lensmate was still functional
insofar as it was still protecting the factory lens and the
lens cap still fit. So, although I need a new Lensmate in order
to fit it with a UV filter to keep dust out, that replacement
cost sure beats buying a new camera or having to replace the
lens. THANK YOU for a great product!"
