Telephoto Converters - designed to "zoom in" farther than your camera's lens alone. They are named by their "power"; the strength of their magnification. A 2X converter multiplies all your focal lengths by 2, making a G3 at full zoom, 280mm (140mm x 2) in 35mm terms.

Wide Angle Converters - designed to include more area into your picture when you can't just back up. They are named by their "power"; the multiplier that reduces your focal length. A .7X converter reduces all your focal lengths to 70% of what they would be without the converter, making a G3 at full wide 24.5mm (35mm x .7) in 35mm terms.
