LensMate G6 Adapters
The successor to the popular Canon G3 and G5 is the
new PowerShot G6. Utilizing Canon's new 7 megapixel sensor,
the G6 has a 2 million pixel advantage in resolution over the
G5. Though the
camera appears different from the G5, the lens is identical
and Canon claims improved coatings will reduce CA. This means
that the conversion lenses that work with the G3/5
will work with the G6.
One important change is the lens adapter which Canon has totally
redesigned. Besides the cosmetic differences, it's bayonet
attachment has changed resulting in a slightly shorter adapter.
Pictured is the LensMate G6 52mm adapter.
Machined from 6061 T6 aluminum, the adapter is first anodized black to minimize
reflections on the inside, then the outside gets a metallic silver finish to
match the case of the G6. Finally, the front edge is machined and given
a brushed finish. All LensMate adapters are made enirely in
the US from the best quality materials.
Another improvement is the location of the viewfinder and
AF emitter, both of which have been moved farther from the
lens. This has resulted in less viewfinder obstruction
by the lens adapter, and the AF emitter is now entirely unobstructed
by either the 52mm or 58mm lens adapter, which will be of benefit
to those who enjoy the protection and functionality of a full
time lens adapter.
