LensMate G3 Adapters

Like our previous adapters, the G3 Adapter is anodized and then color -matched with an industrial coating to the metallic gray of the camera. Unlike the earlier threaded mounts on the G1/G2, the bayonet mount of the G3 requires significantly more machine work to manufacture, but results in a precise fit and a very quick change adapter.

With the exception of a sensor having a million more pixels, the G5 is identical to the G3. The LensMate G5 adapters are physically identical the the G3 adapters, only they're anodized black to match the G5s exterior.

G5/G3 LensMate 52 (above left) $24.95-

The 52mm size retains all the advantages of the original 49mm LensMate adapter - less blockage of the optical viewfinder, autofocus emitter, and flash. The smaller filters are also less expensive. The G3s lens is slightly larger in diameter than the G2s - this required the change to the 52mm size to avoid vignetting when filters are stacked or when a lens hood is used in combination with a filter.

G5/G3 LensMate 58 (above right) $24.95-

For those that plan to use the new Canon converters, we suggest getting the 58mm LensMate.

Why offer a 58mm adapter when Canon already does? Mostly durability; the Canon adapter is molded plastic and the LensMate is machined entirely of 6061-T6 aluminum. In our experience, it's easier to cross thread a plastic thread. Once this occurs, it becomes more and more likely to cross thread again in the same place. We think it looks better than Canon's adapter too.
